I prefer people saying my name in Spanish instead of English. One thing that I like about my name is that it sounds good. I also like the syllables in it, as well as the nice rhythm, or sound it makes when someone that knows how to pronounce it pronounces it. Some thing else that I like about my name is, like I said before the different ways that it is unique, like the grammar and I have never herd it before in another person or anything else.
At the beginning of the school year I usually get annoyed because most of my teachers don’t know how to pronounce my name. Usually the only teachers that can pronounce my name are the ones that speak Spanish fluently, for example my Spanish teacher, obviously. Even know that I have been with the same teachers for five or six months probably even more, some of my teachers still don’t know how to pronounce it. Something that I don’t like people to ask me is; “Where does your name come from?” I don’t like people to ask me this because not even my parents know were it comes from.
The story behind my name is the following; My grandmother from my dad’s side was the wonderful and special person that gave me my name. If she hadn’t decided to pass teh idea of naming me after herself my name would have been hers. My name would have been Maria Dody. Since, she didn’t want me to have her name for the reason that she doesn’t like it she decided that my name would be Yeraldet.
When I was small, about four years old about to turn five I was going to start kinder. I still didn’t know that me name was Yeraldet. Furthermore, I thought that my name was Yari. The meaning of the name Yari is princess. It wasn’t until I went to kinder when they called me up in the list that I realized that my name was actually Yeraldet. I remember this day because they called up another girl whose name was Yari and I wanted to go up but my mom told me that that wasn’t me.
Now I would rather have people call me Yari because it is simpler and I am more comfortable with that name. Although that is only for friends because I like to go by my real name with teachers even if they don’t know how to pronounce it.

Yeraldet, I like how you started with all the reasons why you like your name. I also think you did a really good job with telling the story about you thinking your name was Yari.
